From May 7th, 2015 toJuly 17th, 2015, Yigal Ozeri: Recent Work will exhibit new and previously unseen works from a variety of series including Territory, Aquabella, and Bear Mountain as well as portraits commissioned by prominent collectors.

New York City-based Israeli artist Yigal Ozeri is best known for his large-scale cinematic portraits of young women in vast transcending landscapes. His near photorealistic oil paintings convey the spirit of his subjects in a grand array of natural settings: from abundant rain forests to dreary deserts.

When you meet Yigal Ozeri, you feel you have stumbled into the presence of someone different. Like an eternal '70s rockstar, his personality exudes from the top of his unruly hair to his often outlandish shoes. Then, when you view his artwork, it clicks. You are immersed in color and light and, above all, the concept of beauty. There in front of you are the most perfect young women you have ever seen photographed. But of course, that's because Ozeri's works are not photographs at all: they are paintings.

Another treat for realism lovers is Mana co-founder Yigal Ozeri's solo show "Revolution at Giverny." In 2013, Ozeri was commissioned by Richard J. Massey to help recreate a vision of Marie Antoinette at Giverny. Here you see a breakdown of the photorealist artist's process, from reference photos to drawings, to finished products. Ozeri’s dramatic rock ‘n’ roll images, mix reality and fantasy in one fell swoop. Shooting anyone from real women to rock star’s daughters, his work always shows them surrounded by nature. He shoots women on set, then returns to the studio to paint from the photographs. Ozeri told the Newfound Journal that when he’s shooting he’s looking for “her first interaction with her setting. Her initial timidness, embarrassment, her openness… ” Ozeri is represented by Zemack Contemporary Art Gallery, Tel Aviv.

Houston-based painter Kevin Peterson and internationally recognized artist Yigal Ozeri round out the show. Like Zener's, Ozeri's paintings involve aquatic settings but have an entirely different feel. Zener's works, particularly the ones here of women floating in pools while wearing long, billowing dresses, have a dreamy, buoyant quality. Ozeri also paints women in water, but his paintings are set in natural surroundings involving boulders or lush vegetation. Though none are on view at Tinney, many of his series are of nudes.
